About Us
Our Story
Our monthly film club kicked off in 2020 with a special screening of Spike Lee’s ‘Inside Man’ and has gone on to host cult classics such as ‘Poetic Justice’, ‘Set it Off’, ‘A special Screening of TENET’ and most recently the classic ‘LIFE’ starring Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence.
The birth of Black Ink Cinema came from sisters Rachael & Sharon wanting a space like ‘Prince Charles Cinema’ which celebrates Hollywood's classics but for ‘Black Cinema’
The lack of representation and options of where to watch classic ‘black films’ or ‘black lead movies’ in a cinema setting are scarce, with the exception of black history month in October. Leading to frustration and feeling marginalised
Black Ink Cinema is an inclusive space where all movie lovers can come and celebrate Black Cinema from old to new releases. Bridging the gap and sparking insightful conversations.
Guests are welcomed by friendly staff in BIC T-shirts, a complimentary glass of bubbly or mocktails our signature cake pops and other treats with carefully selected music to compliment the film. Special guests from our Black Ink Cinema podcast often attend, so this is a great space to network, meet new people and have fun.
